Stay where the pilgrimage is at home
From our apartments it is just one or two minutes' walk to the Basilica of Mariazell with its miraculous image of the Virgin — the “Magna Mater Austriae”. Anyone arriving on one of the traditional pilgrim routes, such as the Via Sacra from Vienna or the Mariazeller Weg, needs one thing above all at the destination: a quiet, central place to stay that can still be reached late in the evening.
That is exactly what our apartments are made for. You check in yourself — the code for the key box arrives by message two days before your arrival. That way you are not tied to any reception hours and arrive relaxed, even after a long stage.
For pilgrim groups: several apartments under one roof
At Pater-Heinrich-Abel-Platz, seven of our units are in the same building — from the Family Apartment for six people to the Shalala Penthouse for up to twelve. This lets us accommodate a whole pilgrim group, a parish or a family clan together. For larger groups we are happy to coordinate availability personally — simply write to us at welcome@hospitalityservices.at.

Everything within walking distance
Mariazell is small and compact. The Basilica, cafés, the gingerbread bakery and shops are all around the main square — you won't need a car during your stay. Each apartment has a fully equipped kitchen, plus Wi-Fi and everything for a restful stay between prayer times.

Frequently asked questions about the pilgrimage
How far is it from the apartments to the Basilica?
Very close: our apartments are in the historic centre at Pater-Heinrich-Abel-Platz and on the main square. It is only one or two minutes' walk to the Basilica.
Can we book several apartments as a pilgrim group?
Yes. At Pater-Heinrich-Abel-Platz, seven units are in the same building — from the family apartment for six people to the penthouse for twelve. Several apartments can be combined. For larger groups we are happy to coordinate availability personally — write to welcome@hospitalityservices.at.
What if we arrive late after a long stage?
No problem. You check in yourself: two days before arrival you receive the code for the key box and directions. That way you are not tied to any arrival time and can arrive late in the evening too.
Do we need a car in Mariazell?
No. The Basilica, shops, cafés and the gingerbread bakery are all around the main square, within walking distance. Parking is available on request.
