One ski pass, three ski areas

Three ski areas lie around Mariazell, all accessible on a single ski pass within the shared Voralpen ski association: the Mariazeller Bürgeralpe, the Gemeindealpe Mitterbach and the Annaberger Lifte. Together they offer slopes for every ability – from the broad family slope to the steepest descent in Lower Austria.

  • Bürgeralpe – 10 slopes, 14 km, reached straight from the town centre by the Bürgeralpe Express; ideal for families and leisurely skiers
  • Gemeindealpe Mitterbach – 15.5 km of slopes at 1,626 m, a freeride area, a snowpark and the steepest descent in Lower Austria
  • Annaberg – 20 km of slopes between 800 and 1,400 m, nine lifts, a well-known family ski area with a supervised children's area

Cross-country, tobogganing & ski tours

Away from the slopes, too, the Mariazellerland is a winter dream:

  • Cross-country skiing: around 53 km of trails in the region – 13 km classic and 8 km skating on the Gemeindealpe alone
  • Tobogganing: a 2.5 km toboggan run leads down into the valley from the Bürgeralpe
  • Ski tours: quiet ascents, for example on the Ötscher near Lackenhof
  • Winter walking & snowshoeing: marked trails and guided tours
